‘RISE…’
This solo ‘RISE…’ is inspired by the performer Simone, with its technical, physical, emotional and spiritual demands. The essence of this work has been enhanced by the cultural and artistic exchange between Tebby and Simone, in working with their different dance and movement vocabularies. That is their respective practice in African Contemporary, Afro-Butoh and South African ritual dances.
From here, the project started following the first lockdown and the closure of cultural institutions. The impact that affected many people mentally was enormous. Despite the uncertainty and difficulties, we have given light to the voices that have been silenced.
The piece reveals moments of a woman in her isolation room, reflecting on her memories of life, past, present and possibly of an uncertain future.

‘IT SEEMED LIKE A FAIRY TALE TO ME’
Show against domestic violence towards women, winner of the “Donne da Palcoscenico” Award 2022, curated by Minimiteatri, the Municipality of Rovigo, and the Rovigo Culture Foundation.
Production supported by the Italian Ministry of Culture and the Tuscany Region.
The performance “It seemed like a fairy tale to me…” explores the theme of domestic violence against women through the expressive language of dance-theatre. A relationship, initially experienced by the woman as the fulfillment of a fairy tale—a dream complete with its “Prince Charming”—quickly changes, revealing the dark side of a passion that turns into possession, domination, and violence at the hands of the man.

The intent perceived in Beethoven’s music, which exemplifies the essential theme of the work, seeks to reconcile the separation between humanity and Nature that eroded the equilibrium of the beginnings. The lack of harmony leads to malady and mortality. This theme, observable from the primary notes, is profoundly meaningful. Regressing to the primitive condition is infeasible, yet all must unavoidably change to something unique, more sophisticated both in the connections between human and Nature, and in those among humans, as a unified entity.
